CONTEXT: Phobos is a navigator, the pilot of a two person short-range military spacecraft. Along with Deimos, the ship's gunner, referred to as a fighter, he fights for the Earth Alliance against the alien threat of the Colterons, a race hell-bent on destroying humanity's colonies on Mars on their way to Earth itself.
FIRST IMPRESSION: Phobos -his task name, as any and all references to their lives before enlisting are verboten- embodies wealth and privilege: he is slender, handsome, pale, with platinum blonde hair and gray eyes, all attributes that indicate high status in the world of Starfighter, where rich Earth dwellers can afford genetic modifications to engender perfect offspring.
BUT: All the money in the world can't buy your child a good personality. Phobos, while capable of being extremely charming and persuasive, is quite a piece of work: he throws tantrums, often thinks before he talks, and acts as the station's de-facto Queen Bee.
Jealous, attention-hungry, and resentful, he often shies away from the results of his schemes -leaving Porthos, his best friend, to deal with any physical altercations- but when push comes to shove, he can risk everything to attain his goals.
Phobos also expresses prejudices common to his social class: he looks down on the poor colonists from Mars, criticizes their manners and their unaltered appearances, and has been known to use racial slurs to make his point.
